And remember, this is a basic starting point. The beauty of pour over coffee is that you control the grind, ratio, temperature and time, all of which are key components to your perfect cup of coffee. Don't be afraid to experiment with different flavors, temperatures, and grinds!
- The grind. For pour over coffee, we suggest e medium grind (depending on the filter).
- Coffee to water ratio.
20 oz of water to about 36 grams of coffee
12 oz of water to about 21 grams of coffee
8 oz of water to roughly 14 grams of coffee
Don't have a kitchen scale? A level coffee scoop should hold two tablespoons of coffee, which is approximately 10 grams of ground coffee. - Temperature. Boil water to a temperate between 200 and 204 degrees, and then let the water settle and become quite. Slowly and evenly begin to pour the water over the grounds, allowing the coffee to 'blood' (as seen in video). While keeping the grounds evenly submerged, pour slowly and steadily in a circular motion. If you have the ability to let the coffee steep before flow through, let it sit for 1-4 minutes, depending on your desired taste.
- Enjoy!
